In this self-paced online course, you‘ll learn two of the most important medieval embroidery techniques: couching and silk embroidery. The designs have been adapted from the so-called Wolfgangskasel, exhibited at the Domschatzmuseum Regensburg. The bell chasuble, which was made soon after AD 1050, has a gold-embroidered forked cross. The ‘real’ Wolfgang was Bishop of Regensburg from AD 972 and was canonised in AD 1052. This means that he himself could never have worn the chasuble named for him. Each design measures 8.7 x 8.7 cm. This course is part of a monthly or yearly membership. Become a member!
