In this self-paced online course, you‘ll learn three of the most important medieval embroidery techniques: beading, couching and silk embroidery. The design has been adapted from a chasuble orphrey fragment held at the Bayerischen Nationalmuseum in Munich, Germany (Inv. Nr. T 297). This particular scene is part of a famous chasuble cross design depicting the Nativity vision of St Bridget of Sweden. In 2020, I wrote a blog post about these embroideries. The fragment from the BNM dates to the 3rd quarter of the 15th-century and was made in the Lower Rhine Area. You are working to the same scale as the original (20.5 x 15.7 cm). Course Fee: €75.
